Lancome Ink Artliner in Beach Gem

Definitely not a great purchase. One can purchase a similar type liner (glittery, long wear/waterproof) from Gosh, Stila, Make Up For Ever, or Lise Watier for a better cost and probably better performance. The problem with the Lancome Beach Gem liner is that it bleeds every time I apply it to my eye, so this will be a return, sadly because this was the piece I was most excited about from the Bronze Azure launch. *Sniffles* I didn't include photos so one can take my word for it.

In other exciting news, I saw some photos for the Clarins "Fall" and Holiday launch! The holiday launch seems to be a promising launch! Hopefully the promo photos that they do for the holiday line will actually feature only products exclusive to the launch. Last year (2010), the model was wearing the eyeshadow trio and face powder, but was not wearing the lipstick (Borroco), she was wearing another lipstick from the regular line. What is THAT? Oh, Clarins isn't the only one guilty of this faux pas- CoverGirl has done it (when just launching lip perfection lipsticks in Canada- "burn"was not in the prelaunch) and for Fall 2010, the Blue Dahlia Collection from Estee Lauder, Hilary was not wearing a lip color featured in the limited edition launch. Seriously? There were 3 pure color gloss sticks and 3 glosses (maybe more, maybe less, I cannot recall)- ALL *GORGEOUS*- it was inconceivable to feature one of the limited edition lippies??

that's the beauty post for the day....
and Smashbox Softbox palette should be landing anytime now....!

a congrats is in order

CONGRATS, E!!!!!!!
God bless! :D

back to beauty

Now Canadian customers are savvy, we're not silly dolts! At least I'm not (nor are the people I associate with...!). So! What is with the lack of availability for Canadian customers?!?!?!?! STILA?!?! TOO FACED?!?! URBAN DECAY!?!? IM TALKING TO YOU! There are such AMAZING deals and offerings online, but no, if you live in the greatest country EVER...Canada, NO DEALS FOR YOU (think of the soup nazi from seinfield, in that tone!).
Take for example, the lovely lovely too faced Friends and Family sale, 20% off! WHAT?! AWESOME! Wait, NO!
NO I SAY
NO

Not available if you live outside of the 50something states. BOOHISS! BOOHISS I SAY! These awesome sets and values are not passed on to Sephora. I dont want Sephora's piddly little "deluxe" sample after I spend $100 there...I WANT 20% off and AMAZING sets! :(    I cannot bill the order to myself either. Now, this would have been all fine and good and not a problem except I stumbled on Too Faced's site, featuring 20% off AND found a WICKED lipgloss set for $55- a great deal to begin with. And 20% off?? SWEET! BUT NO! NO GLOSS FOR ME! NO DEAL FOR ME! Or YOU! Yea, you canuk, I am talking to you.... :**(
I thought I would be clever and bypass the system and have it shipped to E (she is such a lovely angel!) but I cannot enter Cdn billing information. How LAME is that?!?!?!?!?!?

All i have to say is a big fat
AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
and BOOHISS on the aforementioned brands! Smashbox (YAY!) ships to Canada! For shame TooFaced, Lorac, UrbanDecay, and Stila! Taking Canadian customers for all you can! For SHAME for not sharing the goodness!

What's very funny about this is that I am just another ranty rambler, where my words have no impact and won't change anything. Oh well, having a blog deludes me to otherwise....*mwa ha ha ha* Guess *i* DO get the last laugh! ):>

its a today

I have recently decided that...."this is the song that never ends, yes it goes on and on my friends....." Thanks Sherri Lewis and Lambchops (*hearts*).
I also decided that if i were offered FT status at the boutique, I would take it.

Also, I hate that my desk is always chaos. I guess that's what I get for having a glass table for a desk.

yuck

I am working on my cover letter for my practicum. this is such yucky business. i feel so......*le sigh* shall I say...! It is a nerve wracking process, let me say.

A last thought for the day....we're all still here. No rapture...yet.

Indeed....the world has not yet ended and Christians have not been whisked away to be with Jesus in His new kingdom. The tattoo artists were having mighty fun about *expletives* Christians (more random expletives). Certainly, it was interesting to listen to the cajoling and fun poking or putting down, I suppose would be more accurate. However, I would highly suggest, in order to not sound like a ridiculous fool, to know a little bit about one is talking about before subjecting something to rigorous insult. Once in my room with my artist, I decided to give him a little bit of education...being a Christian and all myself. I politely informed him that it *wasn't* the end of the world, but that it was predicted to be the rapture and proceeded to say a line or two about it. My artist felt it necessary to holler to the other one that "there's a christian in the house" (BOOYA I say to that) and proceeded to inform his fellow artist about rapture...who heard or chose to alter it to, 'raptor' from Jerassic Park (which was a great movie!). He enjoyed playing that up a little bit, in which my company found entertaining, which is good. I personally thought that the guy sounded like an idiot, but that's okay. Death metal was playing (including some Korn, YAY!) and the needle machines were going, so it was a bit hard to hear. My artist said he was a Christian too, like, he was born that way or something , because he was baptized. I am not certain...like i said, it was hard to hear.

Matthew 24:36-44 (New International Version)

The Day and Hour Unknown
36 “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son,[a] but only the Father. 37 As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38 For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39 and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 40 Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.    42 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.

That little qweek

Indeed, what is that word that I have made up? It is a term of endearment for the lovely, scrotchy quaker parrots in my life. I heart them, so very much, which is why, I decided to do some body mod and get one tattooed on my foot. Indeed, a foot tattoo does hurt; tattooing hurts, however, this is where I wanted it and this is where I got it. I would also like to say that it hurt more in some spots than others; that is, where there is less flesh/muscle/meat (whatever term one would like to use), there is more pain. He is also more orangey than I would like, at this point, however, that's lovely blood under the skin interacting with the green ink, and should clear up once healed. I am happy to say that R is accepting of it, as far as that goes, given that he doesn't like ink. However, as I said to M, it IS all about compromise in a relationship and I wanted ink LONG before he was ever around. So, what is the compromise, if he despises ink and I was bound and determined to get one from a young age, long before he was in the picture as I said? Well, he was given some time to get used to the idea, for starters, as in a couple of years. Secondly, I didn't get a large tattoo. Thirdly, I had the ink placed in a conspicuous location, versus somewhere much more obvious, like one's wrist. Now, about the second tattoo....! ;)

I will post pictures as it continues to heal....I am hoping I will not need touch ups; if any are required, it would be to deepen the green, but it is too early to say. Healing MUST occur. And to facilitate that process, I am using Bioderma's Cicabio cream which is respectful of the body's healing process and Vichy's Mineral Balm which is fragrant, colorant and paraben free, huzah! I say, huzah!

What we're listening to right now (me, Pepper and Jordie)....End of the Affair Soundtrack....

Oh yes, my bad! I would like to say thanks to Jason L at Embedded for an amazing job and making my personal experience a positive, one-to-remember-for-good-reasons! My personal philosophy towards ink is that it is very personal and intimate (and should be, boo not thought out, rash inkings) and Jason was a wonderful part of that; no judgments, just acceptance (sometimes the body mod culture is too cool for people that aren't really apart of that subculture, if we know what i mean...). He was also cool with my profuse foot sweating. Also props to D&S for coming and making a great shared experience! Extra props for D for holding my hand (it really helped keep me focused esp. when it hurt and she was right, it is an annoying hurt so keeping my hands away as a good thing too! and now, i feel all grown up and can get ink on my own! YAY me!). Extra props to S for her AWESOME news and for being my paparazzi!

Whoops

Aren't we a little saturated with passwords when one has to keep a separate, neat little spiralbound note book to write down user names, passwords, etc.? God honestly forbid if this treasured little trove of information ever got misplaced around the house. What *are* things coming to?
For the record, I think it worthwhile to note that I am not so organized with my passwords and usernames; i have random post-its all over my quirky cork board for random and infrequently visited sites.

getting used to this....

so does anyone else have a blog here too? you should email me with the link, so i can add it to my dashboard. still feeling neuronal growth as i move along here.

i have to say, this blogging business reminds me of a fun quote from olp, 'i confess talking is just masterbating without the mess', which really feels like the case at this moment. in blogging, i am entertaining the idea that people actually care enough about whatever whimsical thought i am having at the moment to read my blog. here's hoping its not 'star' magazine for the mind.

that said, after reading my favorite morning blog on cosmetics (telle hearts Muse and Christine so very much)...I may just do my own cosmetics blog. I do subscribe to a recommended canadian one, but i find it lacking, oh so very much. actually last night, was the first time in the canadian blog that i actually learned about a new product release, coincidentally because it is a canadian brand (marcelle)....which is great, i will keep a look out for in stores. what would be 'unique' about my canadian cosmetics blog is that it wouldn't just include little reviews about products, lines, launches, albeit very limited because there are more established blogs that do an amazing job (why repeat it?), but include canadian RETAIL experiences....where are good places to shop, who is worth shopping with, the best beauty finds and deals, etc. because that kind of information is handy. and also, maybe it would start a trend for beauty advisors/beauty peeps in the industry to take their employment seriously and start treating customers accordingly instead of acting much of what i frequently encounter: snobbiness; uneducated; uninterested in both the line and the customer; thinking that one knows better than the customer when clearly one does not; lack of enthusiasm for sales; inability to sell well, etc. That's actually a terrible list, yet, i think it is safe to say that most people making a cosmetics purchase, encounter. :( On that note, not all persons in the industry are so sub-par, there are a few great ones- a shout out to E. at the Kingsway Estee Lauder counter and N. at the bay fragrance/shiseido counter and L. at the boutique that i am now employeed at as well. :)
